We just recently acquired a new set of this material and it is absolutely marvelous. One just sold so we only have this one left right now but we have our dealers looking for more of them. These sets are very rare. They only come from 1 place and we know of only 8 in the world. Collectors look for and then very carefully cut agates in order to form the letters on the surface. Each of the letters is an individual agate cabochon. The letters are formed in a natural process when Iron Oxides diffuse through microscopic fractures in large pieces of Agate. A very skilled lapidary artist cuts the Agate until they see what shape the Oxides may form then works it until that specific shape appears. They then cut and polish it into a single letter of the alphabet. The most common pattern is said to be a simple cross and only rarely are letters found. The rarest shape to form is the "Q". Some letters come darker than others but, again, that's justa part of the natural diffusion process. The picture was taken under diffused artificial light because the surfaces are highly polished and reflect. I can try getting more if you write and ask me but I had a lot of trouble with the last batch.
